My name is Maria. I am nineteen years old. A great deal of this journal is locked. You're welcome to add me if you'd like, and I'll certainly return the favor. I use this when I am very happy or very unhappy, though I promise I am not such an extreme or single-minded person in real life. You can also visit my tumblr or my flickr.

mirror sadness; sadness of love without release; secret sadness
I need words, memories, quiet moments, beautiful things, music, a bicycle, books by Jonathan Safran Foer, a camera, a notebook, my car and an open road, chinese food, pall malls, Dostoevsky, my mom, my family, my friends, time to myself, the internet, this journal, the world as it existed, as it exists and as it could exist.

sadness of unmanageable sadness; sadness of the could-have-been
On 24 May 2007, my friend Jimmy died. Everything I was, did and felt before that day was simply a prologue. Jimmy was a beautiful person. He was stronger and better than I am, and I miss him every second, every day. I want to give every experience I have to him, to make him alive, breathing and smiling, smiling, smiling. (but my soul aches)
